This entire documentary is available on YouTube, there are 10 parts. Its very informative about all of the science, internation politics and profit behind GM crops and Monsanto.

USDA Wants Genetic Engineering Allowed in Organic

Posted in Gardening, Green Issues, Organic with tags , , , , , on August 21, 2009 by sequoiaredd

“A recent USDA report is attempting to make the case for “organic genetically engineering” is part of a well-funded campaign coordinated by Monsanto and their governmental, corporate, and non-profit partners to legitimize a dangerous and untested technology. This is a campaign to impoverish farmers by making them dependent on expensive genetically modified seeds and the array of chemicals needed to grow them. It is also making guinea pigs of consumers who are being force-fed unlabeled genetically modified foods…”
- Organic Consumer’s Association, read more here

Whats weird about this is that I had a dream that the gov’t was going to try and get GM crops under the organic label. Its pretty logical when you look at it from a business standpoint and since the gov’t doesn’t care to regulate the labeling of products that contain GM ingredients, this was the obvious next step.

So the real question is, now what?

According to the USDA report thats trying to change the Organic label, organics is really a movement based on ideology, not science. I find that especially ludicrous considering the fact that they’re using the American public as guinea pigs for a sciene experiment that we haven’t even seen the results of.

Did you know that for some GM crops, in order to change their genetic structure they have to weaken the cell wall by infecting it with Ecoli bacteria (and now you’re going to eat this)??

Yeah, what AWESOME science. Thank goddess, for SCIENCE and not our silly ideologies that say its not right to use people as guinea pigs WITHOUT their knowledge.

The government is put in place with a set of ideals (called the constitution). We, as Americans, supposedly put people in power to PROTECT our rights. The Constitution is not based on fact or science. Its based on what people think is right. I know that is a little redundant, but how is it ok for a gov’t entity to decide all of a sudden that now, after being put in place to protect our rights and ideals as a country that its going to base its decisions on science and profit? WTF?

“The scientific community consistently responds that biotechnology has not created new ills for humanity or the environment.”

Actually, the biggest problem with GM crops and the conventional food industry in general is the lack of biodiversity. THAT is a HUGE problem with GM.

The commission reported that the primary difference between conventional plant breeding and biotechnology is the higher precision inherent in the latter. The National Research Council argues that the accuracy with which plant biotechnologists alter a plant’s genes makes the process even safer than conventional breeding.

Not true, in the documentary The Future of Food (if you haven’t watched this you need to!), they had scientists talking about the dangers of how cells can just reorganize and evolve without the control of their creators. It’s evolution people.

This is wrong. This is a violation of basic human rights.

A blog called El Rey Del La Almeja (the Cunt King) based in Spain, posted an entry about me about a month ago and asked me to do an interview. The questions have been loosely translated from Spanish and my answers are in bold. Enjoy…it’s really long, so I added a “read more tag”… Read more »

some of the things I love about doing sex work!

Posted in sex work with tags , , on August 18, 2009 by sequoiaredd

1. The chance to engage in sexuality on a daily basis, sexuality to me is one of the most magickal experiences we can have as humans

2. Orgasms! probably goes with number one, but hey, it should get its own space.

3. The gift of having  a forum to be able to evaluate and reevaluate where I”m going with myself, in a normal 9 – 5 job you’re putting your energy into a large corporate entity or someone else most of the time, with this kind of work I’m constantly feel like I’m totally self aware

4. Sex work fuels my want for self improvement

5. It’s totally freelance in most genres, which definitely fits my somewhat bohemian lifestyle

6. Room for creativity! in most sex work, not only are you freelance, but you’re also your own boss! whilst sometimes you need to fulfill modern day stereotypes of what women are “supposed to be” most of the time you get to figure out how to market your own personality. its entrepreneurialism at its finest!

7. I’ve pretty much learned all of my manners and social skills through sex work (which may or may not be a good thing, ha). I used to be such a wall flower, but its amazing how much work like porno will make you more confident in social situations

8. Money, pretty obvious, but sex work is the only work I’ve done to date that I’ve felt like I’ve been appropriately paid for my time and efforts

There’s many more reasons, but I’d thought I’d share those for now

the sacred prostitute and magdalene unveiled – a documentary

Posted in Films & Documenaries with tags , , , , , , , on August 18, 2009 by sequoiaredd

“As a human being our strongest desire is a sexual desire, no matter what, that is our nature…”
-ZaChoeje Rinpoche, Reincarnated Tibetan Lama

“The erotic energy that we have is at our core, its at the core of the universe and it impels both the human and the divine.”
-Rabbi Ronald L. Levine, Ph.D.

First off, I am sorry to say that this is the only documentary of it’s kind that I have come across (of course if anyone else is aware of anything like this, do let me know). Secondly, although well produced and the commentary about the subject, although a bit personal rather than informative, was interesting simply because its the only thing of its kind.

Also somewhat disappointing is that it features commentary from Harley Regan “Swift Deer”, who is a total douche bag and the commentary from him sounds like Bush trying to give you a sex magick lesson. Ugh.

So what is a sacred prositute? As defined by the doc, a sacred prostitute is a teacher of sacred sexuality, a guider into mystical experiences where there is no separation of oneself, the other or divinity.

Another thing that kind of chafed me about this doc was how all of these so called “sacred prostitutes” were trying to differentiate themselves from sex workers, one therapist even went so far as to say “I am not the prostitute on the street doing drugs…”. BARF! Talk about rehashing old stereotypes.

So now that we got all the negativity out of the way (but I mean, really, what was expected of a documentary produced by new age flakes? ;-) )…

They cover some brief history about the sacred prositutes, like how the Romans used the temples and priestesses as a way to enegertically “clean the war” out of the men. They also talk about Mary Magdalene ALOT. Too much for my liking and it seems like they focus on alot her since she is the only characted in christian mythology that resembles anything close to the sacred prostitute therefore “legitimizing” the claim that they even exist. Perhaps this is somewhat of an attempt to market to a sad American audience that still feel guilty about eradicating or moving on from their christian roots.

The doc covers some of the different practices from the teachers and sex workers being interviewed. Some of the practices are interesting and some of them are just cliche. Hearing some of the events that take place in modern temples is worth watching.

All in all, I would recommend viewing it simply because of the subject matter it attempts to investigate.

I’ve been lucky enough to make it to the beach almost every morning since we’ve moved here. The ocean is glorious during this time of year, the water is warm and perfect to fuck in.

open letter to clients and customers

Posted in Adventures with tags , , , , , on August 12, 2009 by sequoiaredd

Hey Dudes,

Recently, for whatever reason, I’ve been getting a lot of negative attention directed towards me from you from phone calls to the feedback you’re leaving. Although I understand that sexual frustration is hard to deal with, you don’t need to take it out on me. I am not psychic and I am not your virtual punching bag. I’m your best friend, I’m here to help get you off, all you need to do is be honest with me, tell me what you want and we can make some hot stuff happen.

I’m here to help you release all of that tension that builds up throughout the day. After all, we don’t want you to end up like this guy, now do we?

Love,

Sequoia
